Getting Started with Luminate Data Share

Overview

Luminate is leveraging the data sharing capabilities within the Snowflake platform to deliver large quantities of data quickly and efficiently. Data Shares contain permissioned views of the tables that are stored in the Luminate database. These views provide read-only access that enable the user to interact with the data without editing the source data.

This documentation covers the details of the current Data Share offering, which contains metadata, consumption data, reference data, and mapping data. The views outlined in the Data Dictionary provide access to the following data types:

  • Musical Recordings (ISRCs)
  • Songs
  • Musical Products (Barcodes)
  • Musical Releases
  • Musical Release Groups (Albums)
  • Artists

Along with the Data Dictionary, the Best Practices documentation provides guidance and suggestions for query optimization.

Operations

These views are updated nightly at 2:00am EST. The views for the consumption data grow at a significantly faster rate than those for the metadata. There is no downtime for the accessibility of the data.

The timestamp fields in the views (e.g. MODIFIED_AT) are calculated according to the UTC timezone.
