Notes

  • Key naming differs between domestic and international. Domestic weekend/weekly records use lowercase snake_case keys (weekend_bo, boxoffice_cum), while international and domestic daily records use uppercase keys with punctuation (WEEKEND B.O., B.O. CUME). Account for this when parsing.
  • Dollar values in nested columns are strings. Parse them (strip $ and ,) before aggregating. The ALL_RELEASE_* columns are already numeric.
  • Year keys reflect the release year, not the year of the individual weekend. A 2019 release can have weekend records dated in 2020. The year key is an empty string for some films with an unknown release year.
  • Missing data. Not all films have daily, weekend, and weekly detail; international detail is provided at the weekend level only when available.
  • Re-releases. RE_RELEASED flags films with a re-release, and the ALL_RELEASE_* columns include re-release grosses. Nested columns separate grosses by release_type.
